More Than Cameras
As wedding photographers, we are right in the “eye of the storm” during a wedding, so to speak. We are there to document the events of the day, so of course we are. Which leads to today’s topic. What ELSE is in our kits, besides cameras, lenses, lights, gels, reflectors, and the other essentials. Some of these items might surprise you, but they come from years of experience.
Sewing kit
Safety pins
First aid kit
Bobby pins/hair bands
Tweezers
Lint brush
Hand sanitizer
Tissues
Stain wipes- good to get a stain before it sets.
White chalk- great for covering a stubborn stain on a white gown or shirt.
Disposable makeup sponges & q-tips
Nice wood hanger- it’s hard to get nice dress portraits with an unsightly plastic hanger.
70” white golf umbrellas (we have 10 of them)- It makes for nice outdoor portraits if the weather is rainy or exceptionally sunny.
Disposable rain ponchos
Breath mints/gum/floss picks/finger toothbrushes
Baby wipes/makeup remover wipes
Hairspray
Clear nail polish
Super glue- we’ve fixed a lot of broken heels.
Baby powder- stops chafing under warm dresses
Fashion tape- strapless dresses are not for the faint of heart. We’ve also used fashion tape to hold ties and jackets in place for breezy portraits.
Kinesio tape- we love its versatility, and it can help stabilize a mild injury in a pinch.
Gaffers tape & Electrical tape
Golf tees- odd, but we’ve reinforced a lot of broken baskets, heels, unstable chairs & tables with these.
Glow sticks/Head lamps/Flashlights- for fun night photography photo ops. The kids will be absolute angels for you if you offer them a glow stick as payment.
Candy/suckers- good for bribery of kids, great for adults who may have blood sugar issues
Lighter/matches- Unity candles often need an alternate lighter.
Corkscrew/pocket knife- champagne toasts
Chapstick (new)
Pocket mirror
Feminine hygiene products
Nail clippers
Tylenol
Bug spray & Sunblock
Granola bars
Water
